In 2013, I began my journey with Shotokan karate, and the training sessions were brutal. There was no air conditioning in the dojo, and temperatures regularly soared to 40–42 degrees Celsius.
Under such hostile conditions, we were challenged to perform difficult moves and push our limits.
At first, practicing in such extreme heat for long periods felt impossible. I struggled to keep up, my body begging me to quit. But over time, something shifted.
I slowly adapted, learning to cope with the discomfort, and it gave me a whole new perspective on endurance—not just in the dojo, but in life.
Endurance, I’ve come to realize, is a must-have skill for anyone who wants to thrive. Life often throws us into uncontrollable situations where we must fight against the odds.
